SAGS sailing

Thanks to Hank from SERAYA for this week’s SAGS Report 20th Oct.

After reading JVP’s WAGS report, I thought that it might be a good idea to keep it short not having JVP’s talent for fiction. It turned out to be a beaut sunny day after all the rain with a nice steady NE around 10 knots. SERAYA elected to use the code zero rather than spinnaker on the run down to Garnet Rock as the wind had been increasing, however, it actually dropped away approaching the mark so that cost us a little. As usual we worked the shoreline on the beat back to Reef Point (but not as far in as previously- getting a bit rock shy) Caught up with the leaders – Carisma, Zingara, Page III and Happy Daze a kilometre or so from the Point.  Took a punt and went about before the lay line which paid off as we rounded Reef Point first in company with Page III.  Fortunately the code zero was still set up on the foredeck so it was quickly hoisted and we just managed to hold off a fast finishing Page III with Carisma just behind for 3rd and Silverado 4th. 17 boats out to enjoy a most pleasant race. Our son Kris replacing Lorraine as crew so it was good to give him a win.

Many thanks to MBBC for its sponsorship of SAGS.
