SAGS sailing

This week’s  SAGS report 5.1.19 from Greg off VOLANDO.

We had  22 starters with around 10knots of ENE wind and an outgoing tide.
Gitana led on a starboard beat to Deception Bay post from Asgard and Happy Daze.
A few tacks were required to lay Bribe mark with Jaguar and Zingara passing several boats to round at the front with Gitana and Asgard.
The majority of the fleet set kites on the run back to DB.
Zingara lead Volando at DB by only a few boat lengths but pulled away on the reach home sailing slightly higher and faster.
Approaching the finish the wind dropped  and Volando caught and tried to pass to leeward resulting in a collapsed spinnaker.
Sheeting on and going to windward Volando passed and ran for the  finish.
Zingara wasn’t done with some match racing from both boats to the finish.
Credit to Peter for great sportsmanship giving us ample room when the boats were close.
Jaguar showed pace in the light air without a spinnaker to finish third ahead of Seraya.

Greg Emberley.

Big thanks to Craig Pawson and our great sponsors Bay Boats for their continued support.
