The BOM predicted 10 to 15 and possible 20 knot SE winds.
There were 17 boats starting the race although Tap The Goose was an early retirement due to equipment failure.
The first boats away enjoyed the fresh 15 knot breeze to the Reef Point marker then it was a close reach down to Garnett rock. Another close reach back to Reef Point then a run home. A pleasant and easy days sail!
Gary (Jupiter) led the fleet around every mark except the finish line. He was coming comfortably first rounding the final mark with Peter (Zingara) in pursuit. Zingara tried to fly a spinnaker and finished up winning the race. It should be noted here that it was not the increased speed of flying the kite that won the race. It was more a case of Gary looking backwards, pointing, offering advice and laughing for the whole 10 minutes that Zingara took to raise the spinnaker where he lost the race.
A bewildered Dave on Double D came third, still wondering how he was not able to catch the circus in front of him with a fast finishing Rimfire taking out 4th spot, then French Kiss just managing to pass Amazing Grace before the line.
Other boats enjoying the day on the water were: Amazing Grace, Sea Sprite, Oscar, Double D, Ripple, Carisma, French Kiss, Rimfire, Tap the Goose, Crews Missile, Page III, Jenesis, and Seraya.
