WAGS sailing

This week’s WAGS report from Ron of CARISMA 12/9/18

The fleet was welcomed by a perfect day for sailing, breeze 12 knots from the north east and a small chop on the water. Eight boats and their crews presented themselves to the start line, Double D, Carisma, Zingara, Jenesis, Seraya, Prophecy, Endorfin and a new boat Celeste.  A starboard course was agreed. Double D was first away with its crew of venerable gentlemen, followed by Carisma with an equally venerable crew who are not quite so gentlemanly. Zingara followed with the rest of the fleet starting over the next 45 minutes. Approaching the first mark Carisma overtook Double D and rounded first and set up for the beat that would ultimately take us to Dee Bay Red. The late starters must have been getting a bit toey by now as the front runners disappeared in the direction of Beachmere. Double D hung on the stern of Carisma annoying its skipper greatly for the first mile or so until a wind shift prompted the crew of Carisma to call for a tack. This move resulted in Carisma “getting away” and rounding the top mark well ahead. With a nice run home Carisma maintained her lead to finished first with Zingara second and Double D third.
