WAGS sailing

Thanks to Dave from DOUBLE D for another WAGS report from 10/10/2018

It was another quiet gathering at the sailors bar for a Wednesday. Actually the whole club seemed quiet. Obviously the threat of afternoon storms kept most of the usual villains away. Comfortably Numb cancelled after he left the club as not enough crew showed up which only left five starters

In about 15 Knots, old salts Benny and Bob aboard Oscar led Zingara on a starboard course, followed by DoubleD now ten minutes down the field after her two Wednesday wins; Silverado with her crew of thousands was next with Prophecy at 14:01, almost fifty minutes behind Oscar.

The breeze held and increased into DoubleD’s favour and we caught Zingara on the work to Beachmere and being unable to pass the high pointing Peter we tacked out. This proved a good move as we received a wind shift and powered cracked off to Deception Bay Red, dodging a big cat from the other fleet, first.

Winged out again we settled in for hot nibbles and watched as Zingara launched a spinnaker only to see it wine glass around the forestay as they headed to Tangalooma.

DoubleD first, Oscar second, comfortably ahead of Silverado, third, with Zingara fourth. Obviously the breeze didn’t favour the multihulls of Prophecy.

Many thanks to DMC of Sunshine Boat Sales for his continued WAGs support, and MBBC.
