WAGS sailing

Thanks to Greg from GRECHER for this week’s WAGS report 31.10.18

A fantastic spring day to bring October to an end. Fifteen boats went out for a great afternoon sail in 10 to 15 knots of north easterly breeze.  The fleet was led away by Oscar, Jaguar, Ever After and Zingara all relishing the good solid breeze in relatively smooth waters.

Ron in Carisma, sailing one up was next away followed by Grecher and About Time with Rimfire close behind. These two were the first of the six multi’s to compete, a great showing of the growing number of multihulls in our section. Silverado, Comfortably Numb and Jenesis  with Michael also sailing one up were next away. Looking back we saw Comfortably Numb having some furling problems and needed to sail on past Caboolture yellow to fix their problem, they were in the mix for a podium until then. Seraya was the last mono away with the remaining multi’s Catalina, Prophecy and Endorfin the last away just over 40 minutes behind Oscar.

It was the constant breeze which made it a quick work up to D-Bay red. Carisma and Zingara were the first around followed by Grecher and a compressed fleet not too far back. Seraya, Ever After, Prophecy and Endorfin all flew kites and were coming on strong. It was Endorfin showing amazing speed tacking downwind on the last leg crossing the line in third, after starting last,  close behind Carisma in second and Grecher passing Ron about 500 metres from the finish to take out the win.  Zingara worked hard to take out the favoured 4th. spot.

A big thank you to our sponsor, DMC and his company, Sunshine Boat Sales.

A reminder that the next SAGS and WAGS are the first of the month and will run on the alternate course (dependant on weather). Always check which course when you log in (and before you realise everyone else has gone the other way).

Next week’s Start Times here: MBBC WAGS results from 31 Oct 2018
