The BOM correctly predicted NE winds at 10 to 15 knots and Geoff on Blade Runner chose a Port course for the first of the summertime races for the year.
Ben and Bob got off to a flying start in Oscar, closely followed by Zingara, Happy Daze, Ripple and Double D.
The late starters, including Jenesis, Catalina, Seraya and Sentier again watched on in dismay as the early starters relished the fresh breeze and disappeared over the horizon.
At the end of the day, it was the early starters who took all the podium finishes.
First place went to Geoff on Blade Runner. A great effort in his new boat sailing single handed. This was Geoff’s first win in a WAGS race on Blade Runner. Congratulations Geoff.
He was closely followed by a fast finishing Dave on Double D who claimed the silver medal.
Third place went to Bob and Ben who, despite their great start, got run down on the final leg.
Back at the clubhouse, the winners of the lucky draw were Merv (Rimfire) and Roger (Happy Daze).
Many thanks to our generous sponsors, David Mason-Cox from Sunshine Boat Sales and the MBBC.
