Thanks to Peter D for the following report. (Trevor should have done it but as he was busy being towed in by the Coast Guard DMC gave him a pass).
The BOM predicted 10 to 15 knot SE increasing to 20 knots in the evening.
Divine Madness led the fleet off on a port course in the predicted 10 to 15 knot winds but the wind strength continued to increase. Zingara was the second boat away 22 minutes later by which time there was a good 20 knot wind.
Nice Try was relishing the increasing wind strength and was flying down the first leg and second legs reaching 12 knots boat speed at times.
Double D, Rimfire Seraya and Sentier also were enjoying the breeze but as the wind got over 30 knots the race became more a test of getting home without damage than enjoying a pleasant day on the water.
Final placings were:
1st: Trevor on Nice Try.
2nd: Bill on Divine Madness
3rd: Merv on Rimfire.
Post-race at the clubhouse, the winners of the lucky draw were Darryl from Sentier and Tony from Sentier.
