SAGS Sailing

Well what a beautiful day on the water. Beats the hell out of mowing the lawn that’s for sure. A good turnout with 13 boats heading out with the predicted light variable winds from the North East.

We started with about 6 knots which fluctuated between 6 and 12 knots for the whole race. Good to see the new boat Sea sprite sailed solo by Tony leading us out on a starboard tack up to Reef Point followed closely by another new comer in Kumalie 111, sailed by Brian on his Quest 8, a fitting opponent for Divine Madness maybe.

Also welcome back to Chris on Real Thing who we haven’t seen around for a while. After a good tacking duel around reef point we all chased Sea Sprite to Garnett rock with War Canoe and Carisma closing fast followed closely by Trim. By the time we got back to Reef Point, War Canoe had taken the lead and ended up a comfortable winner, with Sea Sprite narrowly edging out Carisma for 2nd spot. Unfortunately Tony is on his second qualifying race and was ineligible for a prize which put Carisma into 2nd spot and a fast finishing Triton claiming 3rd even though he was trying for the coveted 4th position, which ended up going to Trim.
